ebb privacy policy
← ebb home · Last updated: 16 October 2026
In short: ebb has no account and keeps no data about you. Your focus sessions, jars and settings stay on your phone and watch. Data leaves your device only for Google's ad service, and for a once-a-day check that your copy of ebb is genuine.
Who we are
ebb is a Pomodoro focus timer for Android and Wear OS, published by Design Blues ("we"). This policy covers the ebb phone app and the ebb Wear OS app.
What stays on your device
- Your finished focus sessions: when they ended, how long they were and which theme you used.
- Your settings: focus length, chosen theme and which themes are open today.
- The timer itself, so it survives a restart.
We never receive this data. It is stored only in the app's private storage. If you use Android's own backup, Android may include it in your Google account backup under Google's terms. Uninstalling ebb deletes it.
Phone and watch
When ebb is installed on both your phone and a paired Wear OS watch, the two copies exchange the timer, today's open themes and finished sessions through Google Play services on your own devices. This data goes only between your devices and is not sent to us.
Ads
ebb is free and shows ads from Google AdMob: a banner on the main screen and, if you choose, a short rewarded ad to open a theme for the day. To show and measure ads, Google may collect and process:
- your device's advertising ID and other device identifiers;
- your IP address and approximate location derived from it;
- information about your device, the app, and how you interact with ads;
- crash and performance diagnostics for the ads SDK.
Google acts as an independent controller of this data. Read how Google uses information from apps that use its services and Google's privacy policy.
Your choices. In the European Economic Area, the UK, Switzerland and places with similar laws, ebb asks for your consent through Google's consent form before personalised ads are shown. You can change your choice at any time from "Ad privacy choices" in ebb's Themes screen. On any Android phone you can reset or delete your advertising ID in Settings, under Google and then Ads.
App integrity check
To stop modified copies of ebb from opening paid-for themes, ebb asks Google Play for an integrity verdict at most once a day, when you open the Themes screen or watch an ad. Google Play creates a signed token that says whether this copy of ebb came from Google Play and runs on a genuine Android device. ebb sends that token to our checker at getebb.pages.dev, which asks Google to read it and answers only yes or no. The token does not contain your name, email or advertising ID. We do not store the token or the answer on our side; the app keeps only the day the check last passed or failed. Google processes the check under Google's privacy policy, and our website host, Cloudflare, may briefly keep standard request logs such as IP addresses under Cloudflare's privacy policy.
Permissions
- Notifications to show the running timer and ring the bell when a phase ends.
- Alarms so a phase ends on time even when the app is closed.
- Internet and network state to load ads and to know when you are offline.
- Vibration for gentle taps when a phase ends.
Children
ebb is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Security and retention
Data on your device stays until you delete it or uninstall ebb. Data held by Google for ads is kept under Google's own retention policies. Connections Google's ads SDK makes are encrypted.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top.
